Omega-9 Oils Commends FDA Determination on Partially Hydrogenated Oils

Dow AgroSciences, the company that developed Omega-9 Oils, supports today’s announcement made by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs) are not “generally recognized as safe” or GRAS for use in human food.  Partially hydrogenated fat molecules contain trans fats that are widely known to raise bad cholesterol levels and thus raise one’s risk of cardiovascular disease. In light of this, organizations such as the American Heart Association and the USDA encourage Americans to keep their trans fat intake as low as possible.
